Teithio Llesol Ysgol / Active School Travel
Thu 28 May 2020Dear Schools and Families,
Cardiff Council is revising its plan to create and improve routes across the city for walking and cycling for everyday journeys. This includes routes to school, work, shopping, socialising and leisure, but it does not include walking and cycling routes that are only used for exercise.
This plan is called the Active Travel Network Map and it will allow us to prioritise where improvements should be made and access funding from Welsh Government to make these improvements.
In order to understand where new routes are required and to help prioritise these routes, we need to understand which routes are currently used by our residents for walking and cycling, and any existing problems on these routes, for example poor crossing facilities, heavy traffic, or personal safety concerns.
We also need to understand where there are existing barriers, including those issues highlighted above, which prevent people from walking and cycling.
We are hoping to gain some information from families in Cardiff schools, and are hoping you will be able to help. We have created an activity overleaf for your children to explore with you, regarding regular routes you make on foot or by bike.
You are more than welcome to work on normal paper and respond with a photo of the work, which allows everyone to take part, even without a printer. Please feel free for your child to make the plan or map as creative and detailed as they would like. This can be done by themselves or with a family member. Some examples are on the following pages. Please email your plans to: travelplans@cardiff.gov.uk
As a thank you for your help, your child can print a certificate to display, as well as have the knowledge that you have helped other families walk and cycle safely.
Many Thanks,
Active Travel School Team

Sesiynau Dysgu Byw Google Meet / Google Meet Live Teaching Sessions
Wed 06 May 2020Annwyl Rieni / Gwarcheidwaid,
O wythnos nesaf ymlaen fe fydd yr athrawon yn rhoi sesiynau byr byw i'r disgyblion drwy Google Meet. Bwriad y sesiynau byw hyn yw i'r disgyblion gwrdd gyda'r athro a chymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau amrywiol a hefyd i'r disgyblion ddefnyddio'r Gymraeg. Rhan bwysig arall yw i'r disgyblion weld eu ffrindiau!
Bydd yr holl fanylion yn cael ei bostio ar y dosbarth Google cyn diwedd yr wythnos. Yn y cyfamser gofynnwn i fewngofnodi i Hwb>Google for Education ac yna Meet erbyn yr amser penodol y cewch gan eich athro.
Gyda'r plant ieuengaf gofynnwn i rieni fod gyda'r plant i'w cynorthwyo. Bydd pob dosbarth gyda athro a chymhorthydd yn bresennol. Gofynnwn hefyd i'r plant eistedd ar bwys oedolyn yn ystod y sesiwn ac i beidio a bod mewn ystafell ar ben ei hun e.e ystafell wely oherwydd rhesymau diogelu.
Diolch i chi gyd am eich cydweithrediad a gobeithio eich bod i gyd yn cadw'n iach a diogel yn ystod y cyfnod anodd hwn.
Mae' r newid wedi dod diwedd y dydd heddiw gan Gyngor Caerdydd oherwydd pryder preifatrwydd gyda Zoom.

PennaethDear Parents / Guardians,
From next week the teachers will be giving short live sessions to the pupils through Google Meet. These live sessions are intended for pupils to meet the teacher and take part in various activities and also for the pupils to use Welsh. Another important part is for the pupils to see their friends!
All details will be posted on the Google class page (through HWB) before the end of the week. In the meantime we ask you log into Hwb>Google for Education then into Meet on the allocated time your teacher gives you. With our younger pupils we ask for you the parents to be present to assist. Every class will have the teacher and TA's present. We also ask you to ensure that all pupils who are taking part will need to sit near an adult and not in a room on their own e.g their bedroom due to safeguarding issues.
Thank you all for your co-operation and I hope you all stay healthy and safe during this difficult time.
Sorry about changing from Zoom but guidance from the council came through late today about privacy concerns on Zoom.
Regards
Meilir Tomos
